Walking Zimbabwe's Wilderness

Walking safari in Zimbabwe starting/ending in Victoria Falls
11th to 24th July 2012
23rd October to 5th November 2012

One of the highlights of your safari awaits you right at the beginning of the trip: Victoria Falls, where the water of the Zambezi River tumbles 100 metres deep into the narrow gorge. The thunder is audible from far away and the sight is unforgettable. You have a few days at your disposal to relax in a comfortable guest house, you can recover from the long flight and take part in a few of the activities that Victoria Falls has to offer.
With our accomplished guide and his competent team consisting of a tracker, a camp helper and a cook, you leave Victoria Falls for Chizarira. Because of its rugged terrain, this is one of the rarely visited national parks in Zimbabwe. This park is full of contrasts. Jagged gorges and rocky hills unexpectedly give way to grassy plains and river valleys. The secrets of this proctected area are divulged only to those who enjoy walking with our experienced guide and are interested in everything that nature has to offer.
Whilst you go on a walk with your guide, the team sets up camp for you. Usually, the large safari tents with en suite bush-bathrooms are set up on the edge of Mucheni Gorge. A few paces away from your tent you have one of the most spectacular views in the whole of Zimbabwe. On your walks you carry only your photo equipment, binoculars and water, a small day-pack is useful. Your walks start either directly from camp or you drive for a while and then leave the vehicle in order to walk. You either return to camp for lunch or if you are on an extended day-trip, you meet up with the vehicle somewhere along the way and have a picnic.
After a night in a comfortable lodge on the banks of famous Lake Kariba and a relaxing boat ride on the lake, you will go on to spend a few days in Hwange National Park. This is the largest park in Zimbabwe. A very diverse scenery and water holes around which the animals gather to drink at the close of a hot day will give you new impressions of Africa's nature and wildlife. Here, too, you will be deep in the wilderness when you accompany your armed guide on foot and when you spend your nights in the comfortable tents far away from the noise of civilization.
